Internap Chicago Issues

Resolved

It has been two days since the last significant spike in latency here, we are going to close this incident. The monitoring of status will continue and this will be reopened if significant problems recur.

Monitoring

Internap has indicated that additional mitigations have been put in place to help block these attacks, and we have seen consistent connectivity for some time now. We will continue to monitor the situation, if you have any questions please open a ticket at https://secure.lightningbase.com.

Monitoring

Internap mitigated multiple additional DDOS attacks against their systems last night. Their operational transparency page has additional details here: https://ot.inap.com/

We are continuing to monitor this situation and are in touch with the datacenter. If you have concerns regarding your site and its availability please login to https://secure.lightningbase.com and open a ticket to discuss - we have an ability to move sites off the affected systems, which may make sense for some clients given the lack of a clear timeline for final resolution of these outages.

Assessed

The US datacenter where older sites we host are setup, at Internap in Chicago, has been seeing higher than normal latency/packet loss and a number of short outages. This is due to a large DDOS of service impacting network availability. The DDOS is not targeting Lightning Base or a client but has impacted connectivity at the datacenter in general.

Sites hosted by Lightning Base at other geographic locations or newer (Google-run) datacenters are not affected.

Our understanding is Internap has taken additional measures to mitigate these issues and we are seeing more network stability in the last hour. We will be continuing to monitor this status, if you have any questions please login to https://secure.lightningbase.com and open a ticket, or email service@lightningbase.com.
